Babymoon At Under Canvas Smoky Mountains

Every staff member at Under Canvas was super friendly. When we checked in at Reception, they showed us a map of the campground and went over some precautions about social distancing and a friendly reminder they are not a hotel but a glamorous camping experience. Under Canvas Great Smoky Mountains doesn't have any internet service so you get to truly disconnect and relax. They have a wide variety of tents to choose from and we reserved The Deluxe Tent that felt very private. The safari-style tent included the following:

  • Private Deck With Outdoor Seating For 2

  • Large King-Size Bed

  • Wood-Burning Stove & Complimentary Wood

  • Private Shower With Hot Running Water

  • Sink and Flushing Toilet

  • LED Lanterns

  • Indoor Seating For Two

  • LED Fans

  • USB Chargers

  • Organic Bath Products

  • Complimentary Makeup Wipes

  • Bath Towels and Hand Towels

  • Luggage Rack

Our Deluxe Tent was far away from the main campground tucked away up in the trees. It made us feel like we were camping in a treehouse.

November in the Smokies gets bone-chilling cold because of the humidity. The lowest it got down was 19 degrees at night but we were kept warm because of the wood-burning stove that was kept going at all hours. There was plenty of firewood stocked for us to use, all complimentary. Once lit, it broke the chill in the tent. For extra coziness we brought robes and slippers that we wore while sitting by the fire.

Walking from our tent through the smoky campground to get coffee during the early morning was so peaceful.

Their Breakfast Menu served one hot plate and a few other breakfast choices. We ordered their Avocado Egg Toast and coffee. They didn't serve lunch but had an early Dinner Menu. One night we ordered their Shrimp and Grits and Hamburger. Another night we ordered their Quinoa Curry Bowl and Salmon Quinoa Bowl. All of these were excellent choices and not one plate disappointed.

Because the weather was cold and the campsite was booked, a lot of visitors gravitated towards the fire pits so we opted out to distance ourselves socially and had S'mores in our tent when it started to feel too crowded. The campsite at night was so lovely you could see the moon and stars well because there wasn’t any light pollution.

On our last day before leaving we decided to do a light hike and go Leaf Peeping at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It took about 23 minutes to drive from the campsite to the park. During this time of year, the park gets visitors from all over the country just to see the leaves change and enjoy the cool Fall weather. It was really busy so we hiked a short trail less crowded towards the Visitors Center. We hiked by a stream, saw a small waterfall and enjoyed watching the sunset through the trees.

We had such a relaxing Babymoon Glamping at Under Canvas and hiking the Great Smoky Mountains National Park we can’t wait to go back as a family next time.
